Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on safety, cost, suitability and what treatment can realistically achieve

About the clinic

Who treats you, where, and how treatment is decided.

Who will perform my treatment?
Dr. Maliha Dar personally performs the aesthetic medical treatments offered within her licensed scope. She is licensed by the Dubai Health Authority as a General Practitioner, licence number 29664582-005, which you can verify on the DHA's public Sheryan portal.
Where is the clinic?
Villa No. 611, (Villa 2) Jumeirah 3, Jumeirah Beach Rd, Dubai. Appointments are by arrangement — Mon–Sat: 10 AM–6 PM, by appointment · Sun: Closed.
Do I need a consultation before treatment?
Yes. Treatment follows an assessment of your concern, relevant medical history and what is realistically achievable. That assessment sometimes concludes that a treatment is not appropriate for you, and you will be told so plainly.
How much do treatments cost?
Published AED rates for every treatment are listed on the prices page. Injectables are priced per unit or per syringe, so your individual total depends on how much your assessment shows you need, and it is confirmed before treatment goes ahead. More on prices →
What languages are spoken at the clinic?
English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi.
Is aesthetic treatment safe?
These are medical procedures with real risks, not beauty treatments. Safety depends on correct patient selection, a licensed practitioner working within their scope, genuine products, and a clinic prepared to manage complications. Each treatment page sets out its specific risks rather than glossing over them. More on how to choose a practitioner →

Concerns and conditions

What causes each concern and what treatment can realistically achieve.

Can melasma be cured permanently?
No. Melasma is a chronic, relapsing condition influenced by hormones, heat and UV. It can be significantly improved and then maintained, but any clinic promising a permanent cure is misrepresenting it. More on pigmentation & melasma →
Why does my pigmentation keep coming back in Dubai?
Year-round intense UV, plus heat, which aggravates melasma independently of UV. Without daily broad-spectrum protection and sensible sun behaviour, new pigment forms as fast as treatment clears the old. More on pigmentation & melasma →
What should I do first about hair loss?
Get the cause established. Blood tests covering ferritin, full blood count, thyroid function and vitamin D frequently identify something correctable. Treating a deficiency often does more than any in-clinic treatment. More on hair loss & thinning →
Does PRP work for hair loss?
Evidence supports improvement in density and thickness in early to moderate pattern hair loss. It works where follicles are miniaturising but still present, and is best used alongside proven medical therapy rather than instead of it. More on hair loss & thinning →
Will Botox get rid of my forehead lines completely?
If they are dynamic, yes, substantially. If they are visible when your face is completely relaxed, they are static and toxin will soften them over time but not erase them. That usually needs an additional approach. More on fine lines & wrinkles →
What is the difference between Botox and filler for wrinkles?
Toxin reduces the muscle movement that creates lines. Filler replaces lost volume and structure. They solve different problems, and using one where the other is needed is the most common reason results disappoint. More on fine lines & wrinkles →
Why do my cheeks look flat even though I have not lost weight?
Facial fat pads shrink and descend with age independently of body weight, and the bone beneath them remodels. The result is lost support in the mid-face, which reads as flatness. More on facial volume loss →
Should I treat my nasolabial folds directly?
Often not. The fold is usually the consequence of lost cheek support above it. Restoring that support improves the fold indirectly, keeps proportion and generally uses less product. More on facial volume loss →
Are red marks left after acne scars?
No. Flat red or brown marks are post-inflammatory colour change, not scarring, and they usually fade over months. True scarring is a change in texture that you can feel as well as see. More on acne scarring →
Can acne scars be removed completely?
Not by non-surgical treatment. Substantial improvement is realistic; complete removal is not. Any clinic promising erasure is overstating what is achievable. More on acne scarring →
Will filler fix my dark circles?
Only if the cause is a hollow casting a shadow. If it is pigmentation, visible vasculature or fluid retention, filler will not help — and in fluid retention it makes the area look puffier. More on dark circles & tired eyes →
How do I know which type I have?
An assessment in good lighting, including looking at how the area changes when you tilt your head or press gently. Most people have a combination, and the dominant cause determines the plan. More on dark circles & tired eyes →
Can anything lift sagging skin without surgery?
Not meaningfully, once there is genuine descent and excess skin. Non-surgical treatment improves skin quality and replaces lost volume, but it does not reposition tissue. Early laxity responds; established sagging does not. More on skin laxity & sagging →
What is a non-surgical facelift?
A marketing term rather than a procedure. It usually describes a combination of injectables and skin treatments that improve volume and quality. They can look good, but they do not do what a facelift does. More on skin laxity & sagging →
What is the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?
Dry skin lacks oil and is a skin type. Dehydrated skin lacks water and is a temporary condition that anyone can have, including people with oily skin. They need different approaches. More on dull & dehydrated skin →
Why does my skin look dull in Dubai?
Intense UV, low outdoor humidity and constant air conditioning all draw moisture from the skin and stress the barrier. It is a genuinely harder environment for skin than most temperate climates. More on dull & dehydrated skin →
Can pores be permanently shrunk?
No. Pore size is largely genetic and pores have no mechanism to open or close. Treatment reduces how visible they are by clearing congestion and improving the firmness of surrounding skin, which is a genuine but different outcome. More on large pores & uneven texture →
Why do my pores look bigger than they used to?
Collagen decline reduces the support around each pore, so they appear stretched. Sun damage accelerates this, and congestion makes it more obvious. More on large pores & uneven texture →
Are fat-dissolving injections a weight-loss treatment?
No. They target small, localised pockets that resist diet and exercise in people already near a stable target weight. They are not suitable for generalised fat and are not an alternative to weight management. More on stubborn fat & body contour →
Can cellulite be removed permanently?
No. Cellulite is structural, caused by fibrous bands tethering the skin, and it affects most women regardless of weight. Treatment reduces the appearance of dimpling rather than eliminating it. More on stubborn fat & body contour →

Dermal filler by area

Lips, jawline and under-eye each behave differently.

How much do lip fillers cost in Dubai?
Filler is priced per syringe or millilitre and the published rates are on the prices page. Most first lip treatments use 0.5–1 ml, so the cost depends on how much your assessment shows you need. The figure is confirmed at consultation before treatment. More on lip fillers →
How long do lip fillers last?
Typically 6–12 months. Lips metabolise filler faster than cheeks or jawline because they are constantly moving, so they need refreshing sooner than other areas. More on lip fillers →
How long does lip filler swelling last?
Swelling is marked for the first 24–48 hours and settles over two to seven days. The final result should be judged at two weeks, not in the first few days. More on lip fillers →
How much filler is needed for a jawline?
Typically 2–4 ml, which is more than most people expect. It is a long, structural area treated on both sides, and it is often staged across two appointments so the first placement can settle before the second is planned. More on jawline filler →
How long does jawline filler last?
Usually 12–18 months. It lasts longer than lip filler because the area moves far less. More on jawline filler →
Will jawline filler fix a double chin?
No. Fullness under the chin is a separate problem and is not improved by filler along the jaw. It needs a different approach, which would be discussed at consultation. More on jawline filler →
Does under-eye filler get rid of dark circles?
Only where the darkness is shadowing cast by a hollow. If the cause is pigmentation, visible vasculature through thin skin, or fluid retention, filler will not help and may make puffiness worse. Establishing the cause first is the whole job. More on under-eye filler →
Why do some people look puffy after tear trough filler?
Usually too much product, or product placed too superficially, in an area that holds fluid easily. Hyaluronic acid attracts water, so over-treatment here produces persistent puffiness that can last as long as the filler. It can be dissolved. More on under-eye filler →
What is the Tyndall effect?
A bluish tinge that appears when filler sits too superficially beneath thin skin and scatters light. It is specific to areas like the under-eye, is correctable with hyaluronidase, and is avoided by placing product at the correct depth. More on under-eye filler →

What is PDRN?
PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide — shorter chains of DNA building blocks purified from salmon. It is used in skin treatments to support repair and reduce inflammation, and it does not add volume the way filler does. More on what are polynucleotides and pdrn? a plain-english guide →
Is PDRN the same as Rejuran?
Not exactly. Rejuran is a brand of polynucleotide treatment. PDRN describes a shorter-chain form of the same ingredient family. Products vary in chain length and formulation, so it is worth asking what specific product is used. More on what are polynucleotides and pdrn? a plain-english guide →
What are exosomes?
Extracellular vesicles — very small packages released by cells that carry proteins, lipids and genetic material. They are one way cells signal to each other, and in aesthetics they are used to prompt a regenerative response in skin. More on exosome therapy for skin: what the evidence shows →
Are exosomes approved for aesthetic use in the UAE?
Regulatory classification of exosome products varies between markets and by product. We are not able to state the current UAE status for a specific product here. Ask any clinic which product they use and what its regulatory status is. More on exosome therapy for skin: what the evidence shows →
What is Profhilo?
An injectable treatment made from stabilised hyaluronic acid that hydrates the skin from within and improves early laxity. It is classed as bio-remodelling rather than filler, because it spreads through tissue instead of holding shape. More on profhilo explained: how bio-remodelling differs from filler →
Is Profhilo a filler?
No. It uses hyaluronic acid like many fillers, but it is not cross-linked to hold shape. It disperses through the skin to improve hydration and quality, and it adds no volume or contour. More on profhilo explained: how bio-remodelling differs from filler →
Which is better, Rejuran or Profhilo?
Neither is better in the abstract — they treat different things. Profhilo suits dehydration and early laxity; Rejuran suits texture, elasticity and thin skin. The right choice depends on your primary concern, established at assessment. More on rejuran vs profhilo: which treatment suits your skin? →
Can I have Rejuran and Profhilo together?
Yes, and a sequenced plan using both suits some patients. They are usually spaced rather than done on the same day, so each can be assessed on its own merits and you know which treatment produced which effect. More on rejuran vs profhilo: which treatment suits your skin? →
What is Rejuran?
An injectable treatment made from polynucleotides purified from salmon DNA. It supports the skin's own repair processes to improve texture, elasticity and hydration, rather than adding volume or changing facial shape the way filler does. More on rejuran: a doctor's guide to polynucleotide skin healing →
How many Rejuran sessions do I need?
Typically three to four sessions spaced two to four weeks apart, then maintenance every six to twelve months. A single session will not achieve the full effect, so the treatment should be planned and priced as a course. More on rejuran: a doctor's guide to polynucleotide skin healing →
How long does Botox take to work?
Most people see the first softening at 3–5 days. The full effect is visible at 10–14 days, which is the correct point to assess the result and make any adjustment. More on botox for natural-looking results: what to expect →
How long does Botox last?
Typically 3–4 months. Duration varies with the area treated, the dose, muscle strength and individual metabolism. The effect fades gradually rather than stopping suddenly. More on botox for natural-looking results: what to expect →
How long do dermal fillers last?
Roughly 6–18 months depending on the product and area. Lips typically last 6–12 months, cheeks and jawline 12–18 months. Individual metabolism and activity levels affect this significantly. More on dermal fillers: restoring volume with balance →
Can dermal fillers be dissolved?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks the gel down. This is used both to correct unsatisfactory results and as emergency treatment for vascular occlusion. Non-HA fillers cannot be reversed this way. More on dermal fillers: restoring volume with balance →
Does PRP really work for hair loss?
Evidence supports improvement in hair density and thickness in early to moderate androgenetic alopecia, though studies are generally small and protocols vary. It works best where follicles are thinning but still present, and is best used alongside proven medical treatment rather than instead of it. More on prp therapy for skin and hair rejuvenation →
How many PRP sessions will I need?
For hair, typically three to four sessions four to six weeks apart, then maintenance every four to six months. For skin and acne scarring, three to four sessions four weeks apart is common. More on prp therapy for skin and hair rejuvenation →
What is Rejuran made from?
Polynucleotides purified from salmon DNA. Salmon is used because its DNA structure is highly compatible with human tissue and can be purified to a high standard. It is not suitable for anyone with a fish or seafood allergy. More on rejuran: healing skin from within →
What is the difference between Rejuran Face and Rejuran Eye?
Rejuran Eye is a lighter formulation designed for the thin skin around the eyes, targeting crepey texture and fine lines. Rejuran Face is used across the face for overall texture, elasticity and pore appearance. More on rejuran: healing skin from within →
How do I check if a doctor is licensed in Dubai?
Use the DHA's public Sheryan portal to look up the practitioner and confirm their licence is current. Check the facility licence as well as the individual's. Any reputable clinic will provide its licence number on request. More on how to choose the right aesthetic practitioner →
What qualifications should an aesthetic practitioner have?
At minimum, a current DHA licence covering the treatments they are performing, plus documented, structured training in aesthetic medicine. Ask them to name the institution, credential and year rather than accepting general claims of being 'certified' or 'expert'. More on how to choose the right aesthetic practitioner →
What is a non-surgical facelift?
It is a marketing term rather than a specific procedure, usually describing a combination of injectables and skin treatments. These can improve volume and skin quality but do not reposition tissue and will not achieve what surgery achieves for significant sagging. More on non-surgical facial rejuvenation: a complete overview →
Which treatment should I start with?
It depends on which of the four mechanisms your concern involves — movement, volume, skin quality or surface texture. Many people benefit from establishing skin quality first, as it improves the foundation for everything else. More on non-surgical facial rejuvenation: a complete overview →
